Immigration and Visa Attorneys

America is the land of opportunity for most and a beacon of freedom and hope for others. America was founded by immigrants and built by immigrants; its Statue of Liberty proudly declares America to be a land of refuge, a place where everyone is welcome, where everyone can make a new start and everyone can be free.

At Smalline and Harri, we are proud to honor that tradition. We will help you and your family achieve the American dream and obtain green cards, visas, and citizenship.

US Immigration AttorneyFamily Based Green Cards

The Immigration and Nationality Act allows individuals with relationships to U.S. citizens or legal permanent residents to immigrate to the United States. In order to live and work in the United States permanently, you must procure a green card if you are a non-citizen.

A “Green Card” is evidence of an immigrant’s permanent residency status. The process of acquiring a green card can be difficult and may take years to complete.

Our immigration and visa attorneys at Smalline and Harri will help you bring your family members into the country legally by guiding you through the process of filing a Petition for a Relative and a Visa application. We will help you speed up the process of transporting your family to American soil.

Naturalization is the process by which a foreign citizen or national gains U.S. citizenship.

In most cases, to be eligible for naturalization, you must hold a current green card. You may qualify for naturalization if:

  • You have been a lawful permanent resident for at least 5 years (3 years if married to a U.S. citizen) and meet all other eligibility requirements
  • You have qualifying service in the U.S. armed forces and meet all other eligibility requirements
  • You are the child (adopted or otherwise) of a U.S. citizen, you were born outside the U.S. and currently reside outside the U.S. and meet all other eligibility requirements
  • You have a clean criminal record
  • You can prove that you  have filed income tax returns each year
  • You can demonstrate that you are of “good moral character”

Our American immigration attorneys will rely on our extensive legal experience to handle your naturalization with the United States Citizenship and Immigration Service (USCIS) and to help you through the process; even a minor mistake on your application can result in it being denied or losing its place in the queue—setting your naturalization process back years. At Smalline and Harri, we understand the nuances involved in immigration law and we will put our experience to work for you and help you achieve your dream of being an American citizen.
